Indian Ambassador supports Kuwait’s internal campaigns against residency violators

His Excellency Dr. Adarsh Swaika, the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, stated that he respects the laws and procedures of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, noting that all countries follow similar protocols with residency violators.

  • His Excellency Dr. Adarsh Swaika, the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, announced that the next Foreign Ministry consultation meeting will be held in New Delhi and noted that Kuwait encourages Indian companies to enter its market and participate in development projects and infrastructure.

  • The Indian community is the largest expatriate group in Kuwait, with nearly one million members as of 2023, including skilled workers, professionals, and domestic workers, all of whom entered the country under bilateral agreements, said Ambassador Swaika.

His Excellency Dr. Adarsh Swaika, the Ambassador of India to Kuwait, confirmed that “the Indian community is the largest expatriate group in the country, with nearly one million members as of 2023. This community includes skilled and technical workers, doctors, engineers, nurses, accountants, and domestic workers,” all of whom have entered Kuwait following the procedures and agreements between the two countries, as reported by Al Rai newspaper.

“The campaigns carried out by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior against violators are purely an internal procedure, and I believe that all countries follow the same procedure with violators of their residency system. We respect the law and the procedures carried out by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, and what matters to us is that there are close relations between Kuwait and India,” Ambassador Swaika told Al-Rai newspaper.

The Indian ambassador praised the results of the sixth round of political consultations between the two countries, adding that “Joint Secretary for Gulf Affairs at the Ministry of External Affairs, Asim Mahajan, headed the Indian delegation, and the meetings with the Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Samih Jawhar Hayat, were fruitful.”

He pointed out that “Mahajan also met with officials from the Kuwaiti government, and the discussions were serious about many issues related to relations between our two countries. There is a great understanding between the two sides regarding the progress of our bilateral relations in all fields.”

The ambassador denied that “the two sides signed new cooperation agreements, but instead conducted a comprehensive review of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest. We felt great satisfaction with the growth of our traditionally strong bilateral relationship and agreed to enhance cooperation in various fields, including political relations, regular high-level exchanges, trade, investment, education, technology, health, culture, and people-to-people contacts, as well as our vision on issues of common interest.” He stressed that Kuwait and India have identical views on issues of common interest.

The Indian ambassador stated that “it was agreed to hold the next Foreign Ministry consultation meeting in New Delhi, at a time convenient for both parties. There is encouragement for Indian companies to enter the Kuwaiti market and implement major development projects, as Kuwait welcomes Indian companies to contribute to implementing development projects and infrastructure in Kuwait.”
