India issues advisory for its citizens to leave Iran over security concerns

India has advised its citizens to avoid travel to Iran and urged those currently in the country to leave using available transport options, citing recent developments in the region.

The Indian Embassy in Tehran said it was closely monitoring the situation as tensions escalated following reported strikes between Iran and Israel. According to reports, Iran targeted several sites in Israel on Monday, while Israel also carried out strikes on targets inside Iran.

The Associated Press reported that Iranian authorities closed the airspace around Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport following the latest exchanges of attacks.

Citing a statement from the embassy, The Economic Times reported that Indian nationals were advised to refrain from travelling to Iran and those already present were encouraged to exit the country by available means.

The embassy reiterated that it is closely monitoring the situation and continuing to assess developments in the region.
