IMWA hosts 29th annual meeting with new leadership unveiled

The Indian Muslim Welfare Association (IMWA) held its 29th Annual General Body Meeting on Friday, August 30 at Rajdhani Restaurant in Khaitan. Members were given 30 days’ notice, which included details on the date, time, and venue.
The meeting began with a recitation from the Holy Quran. Members received a warm welcome from General Secretary Brother Firdaus Alam Khan, who also served as the emcee and delivered a spirited speech that resonated with the audience. The strong attendance was highly encouraging.
Outgoing President Dr. Mohammed Naimuddin reflected on the achievements of his tenure, emphasizing the importance of good leadership as a guide to collective success. He addressed current global issues and prayed for peace in troubled nations.
Dr. Naimuddin praised the Executive Committee Members for their hard work and dedication, despite facing challenges, in organizing IMWA’s annual events. He expressed gratitude to the members for honoring him with the highest position in the association and announced his resignation as president.
The association’s Treasurer, Brother Mohammed Asif, presented the annual audited financial report for the academic year 2023-24. Brother Firdaus Alam then invited members to share their views and suggestions for improving the association’s operations.
Brother Mohammed Azeem proposed offering free mathematics tuition to students from economically disadvantaged families, a suggestion that was met with applause. Another member, Brother Salman, offered to provide classrooms rent-free to support this initiative.
The General Secretary announced that it was time for the election and called upon Election Commissioner Brother Syed Ifthekar Ahmed to take the stage. Brother Ifthekarread out the names of the nominees who had been proposed and seconded by IMWA members. After scrutinizing the nominations, he conducted the election swiftly.
Following the voting, there was a productive discussion between the Election Commissioner and the attendees. The results were then declared, with Brother Syed HanifAhmed announced as the new President, receiving applause and congratulations from the cheering members.
The newly elected executive committee members of the Indian Muslim Welfare Association (IMWA) have been announced. The Governing Body includes Syed HanifAhmed as President, Muzammil Malik as Vice-President, Firdaus Alam Khan as General Secretary, Khalid Damodar as Joint Secretary, Mohammed Asif as Treasurer, and Feroz Maqbool Khazi as Joint Treasurer.
The Executive Committee Members are Israr Ahmed, Shafaq Mumtaz, Kaleem Ansari, Hyder Ali, Syed Nadeem, and Aleem Siddiqi.
Brother Firdaus Alam Khan thanked the members for their gracious presence and concluded the meeting. A buffet dinner was served to the attendees. The meeting fostered a better understanding and strengthened the bonds among IMWA members, ending on a positive note.
