ICAO Council victory boosts global aviation role of Arab states: Sheikh Humoud

Election of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Morocco to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council is a landmark moment that highlights the leading role of these countries in shaping the future of global aviation.

Director-General of Public Authority for Civil Aviation, Sheikh Humoud Al-Sabah, praised the election of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Morocco to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council, describing the achievement as a landmark moment that highlights the leading role of these countries in shaping the future of global aviation.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Tuesday evening from Montreal, where the ICAO General Assembly is currently being held until October 3, Sheikh Humoud said the victory underscores international recognition of the pioneering contributions of the three nations to the aviation sector.

On behalf of the Kuwait Civil Aviation Authority and himself, Sheikh Humoud extended warm congratulations to the UAE, Qatar, and Morocco for securing Category 3 membership in the ICAO Council elections. He noted that the achievement reflects their significant efforts to enhance the safety, security, and sustainability of air transport while actively supporting the policies of the international organization.

“This victory is proof of the effective role played by these sister countries in advancing civil aviation and their ability to contribute to shaping the policies that guide the global aviation industry,” he added.

On the sidelines of the assembly, Kuwait’s civil aviation delegation held a bilateral meeting with Australian officials, where discussions focused on modernizing operational processes, expanding airline operations, and reviewing vital joint projects in the civil aviation sector.

Additionally, the Kuwaiti delegation met with Airports Council International (ACI) to explore future cooperation opportunities aimed at strengthening Kuwait International Airport. The talks addressed ways to leverage ACI’s expertise in airport management, improve passenger services, and ensure the airport’s readiness to meet the demands of a steadily growing travel market.
