IBPC Kuwait Holds Annual General Meeting 2024

The Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) Kuwait held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Election on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Marina Hotel, Salmiya. The meeting witnessed the election of new office bearers and a review of the Council’s activities over the past two years.

Outgoing Hon. Chairman Mr. Gurvinder Singh Lamba delivered a heartfelt farewell speech, reflecting on his tenure and thanking the IBPC members for their support. He praised the collective efforts that have strengthened the Council’s mission to foster business and professional ties between India and Kuwait.

The AGM proceedings were conducted by Hon. Secretary Mr. Soly Mathew, who provided a comprehensive report of the Council’s activities and achievements during the past two years. The Treasurer, Mr. Sunit Arora, presented the audited financials, which were prepared by CA Deepak Bindal. The members unanimously accepted the financial report.

As per IBPC protocol, the current Hon. Vice Chairman, Mr. Kaizar Shakir, and Hon. Joint Secretary, Mr. Suresh KP, were automatically elevated to the positions of Hon. Chairman and Hon. Secretary, respectively, for the upcoming term.

Following the tabling of financials, the Election Officers were invited to announce the nominations for the positions of Vice Chairman, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer. The following members were nominated and elected unopposed, Mr. Gaurav Oberoi as Hon. Vice Chairman, Mr. Sunit Arora as Hon. Joint Secretary, Mr. Krishen Suryakant as Hon. Treasurer.

In his address, the newly elected Hon. Chairman, Mr. Kaizar Shakir, introduced the Executive Committee for the 2024-2026 term. He highlighted the Committee’s future plans, focusing on initiatives to expand IBPC’s influence and reach. Mr. Shakir reaffirmed IBPC’s commitment to continuing its strong relationship with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait and other organizations, with the goal of further strengthening trade and cultural ties between India and Kuwait.

Mr. Suresh K P, Hon. Secretary of IBPC, extended heartfelt gratitude to the Embassy of India and His Excellency Dr. Adarsh Swaika, Ambassador of India to Kuwait, for their unwavering support and guidance in all IBPC initiatives.

The AGM concluded with a Vote of Thanks by the incoming Treasurer, Mr. Krishen Suryakant, expressing gratitude to all members for their support and participation.

IBPC Kuwait is a non-profit organization and apex body under the Embassy of India providing a platform for Indian businesses and professionals to enhance Indo-Kuwait trade and professional relations. IBPC creates enrichment opportunities by organizing networking opportunities, events (both business and cultural), trade shows, exhibitions etc. Over the years, IBPC has successfully established institutional linkage between the leading Chambers of Commerce and organizations from India such as ASSOCHAM, FICCI, CII, TPCI and FIEO and Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
