I agree to suspend bombing: Trump pauses Iran strikes for two weeks, calls ceasefire

Trump announced a two-week suspension of US bombing of Iran on Truth Social, calling it a "double-sided ceasefire" as negotiations progress and a potential long-term peace deal nears.

In a sudden shift from threats to pause, Donald Trump said he would halt US military action against Iran — at least for now — signaling a possible opening for diplomacy.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump said, “I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,” framing the move as part of a broader push toward a ceasefire.

“This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE!”

Trump continues, saying he will agree to the two week ceasefire “subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz”.

Trump said the US has received a “workable” 10 point proposal from Iran and that a “two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalised and consummated” and that the “Longterm problem” is now “close to resolution”.
