Historic win for Kuwait as Bilal Tahir stars in first-ever Hong Kong Sixes

Kuwait created history in their debut appearance at the Hong Kong Sixes, beating Afghanistan by 4 wickets in a thrilling contest to secure a place in the semifinals.

The victory was orchestrated by an extraordinary all-round performance from Bilal Tahir, who dismantled Afghanistan’s batting line-up with a stunning first-over triple strike, finishing with figures of 3/9. Bilal Tahir then smashed a blistering 36* off just 11 balls, including five massive sixes, to lead Kuwait across the line in a high-octane chase of 88 runs.

Afghanistan posted 87 in their 6 overs, propelled by a whirlwind 57 off 19 balls from Karim Janat. Despite the late flurry from Gulbadin Naib, who claimed two wickets in the chase, Kuwait’s response was relentless.

Captain Yasin Patel played a pivotal supporting role, scoring 29 off 12 balls, anchoring the innings and striking three towering sixes, while Ravija Sandaruwan and Meet Bhavsar provided quickfire starts in the powerplay.
