Indian ambassador unveils “A Tree in the Name of the Mother” initiative in Kuwait
His Excellency Dr. Adarsh Swaika praised the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ project as a valuable effort, highlighting Kuwait’s commitment to sustainable development.

Dr. Adarsh Swaika, the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, announced that the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ tree project will be implemented in cooperation with the Environment Public Authority and Al-Farwaniyah Governorate, stating, “We will ask people to bring trees and plant them in their mother’s name.”
His Excellency Dr. Adarsh Swaika, the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, announced that the number of Indian workers in the country has exceeded one million. He noted that many skilled Indian professionals, including doctors, engineers, and nurses, have come to Kuwait, along with domestic workers. He also emphasized the need for greater compliance with Kuwaiti laws and regulations among members of the Indian community, according to Al Rai newspaper.
Ambassador Swaika announced a project in Kuwait to implement the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative launched by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day this year, which translates to “a tree in the name of the mother.”
The project will be carried out in cooperation with the Environment Public Authority and Al-FarwaniyahGovernorate. He added, “We will ask people to bring trees and plant them in their mother’s name.”
The Indian ambassador regarded it as a very good initiative because Kuwait is also focused on sustainable development. He added, “We are looking forward to the startup conference in December, where we will gather the success stories of both Kuwait and India to explore investment opportunities in both countries.”
