High turnout on first day of Eid as Kuwaitis, residents perform ritual sacrifices

Kuwait’s slaughterhouses saw a heavy turnout (today) Friday morning following Eid al-Adha prayers, as citizens and residents gathered to perform the annual ritual of sacrifice in a festive and well-organized atmosphere.

Despite large crowds at both official and temporary slaughterhouses, strong coordination and logistical planning helped ease pressure and reduce waiting times. This ensured the continuation of a beloved tradition under strict health and regulatory measures.

During a field tour of the Shuwaikh slaughterhouse, Al-Rai observed the presence of veterinary teams inspecting animals before and after slaughter, as well as specialized teams of slaughterers and skinners working efficiently to serve the public.

Several citizens praised the organization, especially at the Shuwaikh facility. Salman Al-Azmi said, “Every year we sacrifice on the first day. This year, everything was clean and well-managed. Despite the crowd, the wait wasn’t long.”

The Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the General Traffic Department and Public Security, ensured smooth vehicle movement to prevent congestion. Meanwhile, the Kuwait Municipality and the Public Authority for Food Security supervised operations to maintain hygiene and order.

Authorities called on the public to continue cooperating with regulations and confirmed that slaughterhouses would remain open in the coming days for those unable to perform the ritual on the first day.

They also emphasized the importance of adhering to health and environmental guidelines, including safe waste disposal to protect public health.
