Health official stresses importance of physiotherapy in helping elders maintain mobility

Physiotherapy is vital in helping older adults maintain mobility, independence and quality of life, according to the Ministry of Health on Monday, marking World Physical Therapy Day.
Abdullah Zaman, director of the ministry’s Department of Physiotherapy Services, said in a press release that Kuwait has expanded physiotherapy services this year through new specialized clinics, departments and infrastructure upgrades.
He noted that the ministry has prioritized elderly care by equipping facilities with advanced technology and training staff to meet the health and functional needs of aging patients.
Zaman stressed that aging is a natural part of life that can be a stage of strength and vitality when prepared for early, adding that physiotherapy supports fall prevention and helps reduce health complications.
He said the occasion serves as an opportunity to highlight physiotherapy’s preventive, educational and therapeutic role, describing it as a key pillar in promoting health and active aging.
