Health Ministry launches Home Care Program for children to enhance community healthcare

Operating under the slogan “We care for your children’s health wherever you are,” the service aims to bring healthcare “from the white walls of hospitals to the warmth of families,” while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compassion.

The Ministry of Health has taken a major step toward improving pediatric healthcare with the issuance of Ministerial Resolution No. 144 of 2025, regulating the provision of medical and home healthcare services for children in the government sector.

The resolution seeks to ensure that children receiving care at home benefit from high-quality, safe, and professionally supervised services under clear legal and medical frameworks.

According to the resolution, “home healthcare for children” refers to medical services provided by a specialized healthcare team at the child’s home, targeting patients whose conditions require continuous monitoring outside hospital settings — such as children with chronic illnesses, cancer, or other eligible conditions. Each case must be assessed by a specialist physician within the home healthcare team and approved in line with established policies and procedures, reports Al-Rai daily.

The decision also requires licensed healthcare practitioners to comply with all medical regulations and guidelines issued by the Pediatric Departments Council, as well as rules governing professional practice according to their specialty and title.

This initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to modernize healthcare services, strengthen community-based care, and reduce pressure on hospitals, particularly emergency departments. The Ministry affirmed that patient information will be recorded confidentially in the official medical system, with appointments and visit notifications sent via text message.

Operating under the slogan “We care for your children’s health wherever you are,” the service aims to bring healthcare “from the white walls of hospitals to the warmth of families,” while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compassion.

The program is being implemented in all Ministry of Health hospitals, supported by field vehicles equipped with advanced medical tools and supplies for home visits. Eligible children are identified after a comprehensive hospital assessment and are enrolled in the service with parental consent.

The Ministry emphasized that this initiative represents a practical application of Kuwait Vision 2035, which prioritizes health and community well-being as key pillars of sustainable development. It also aligns with the Ministry’s vision of enhancing primary and community care, improving patient satisfaction, and ensuring that every child receives attentive, family-centered healthcare — wherever they may be.
