Health Minister has Afiya plans streamlined
Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi confirmed the ministry’s ability to accommodate citizens benefiting from Afiya, noting that there is a priority and a plan in place to receive them.
During the opening of the Trauma and Emergency Surgery Center at Jaber Hospital, the hotline 151 receives their inquiries, already about 50 calls have been received through an integrated medical team that includes all specialties, including dentistry, surgery, and internal medicine, as per the Arabic daily Al Rai.
He pointed out that there are evening clinics within primary health care to receive retired citizens and people with special needs in various specialties, in addition to the availability of evening clinics in all public hospitals in various specialties
He pointed out that Saturday of every week is allocated to perform urgent surgeries, in addition to allocating a hotline for dentistry and all the ministry’s laboratories and radiology departments receive citizens to expedite examinations.
The Minister of Health stressed that the Ministry is working according to a clear strategy to receive patients and streamline their treatment. Emergency departments have been instructed to admit them around the clock as well. The responsibility has been taken up by the MoH.
Jaber Hospital
The Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, announced the opening of the Trauma and Emergency Surgery Center. It is a one-of-a- kind facility in the region within the MoH’s strategy to improve health services for citizens, indicating that “the center contains more than 100 beds, 50 for wards and 50 for intensive care, in addition to 3 specialized intensive care units, 8 operating rooms, an integrated laboratory, an MRI machine, a CT scan, and other devices, in addition to a center for research and training of doctors, an emergency department, and a helipad.”
He explained that the center employs 13 specialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, neurology, urology, vascular surgery, and pediatrics, to receive emergency patients.
He expressed hope that the center would obtain international recognition and that process has already begun. There are 4 wings in Jaber Hospital that will be operational with a capacity of more than 100 beds, in addition to the cardiac intensive care unit.
The Minister revealed that 130 nurses have joined the health service, and within two weeks another 200 nurses will join, bringing the total number of nursing staff who have joined the service since the beginning of the year to 2,300 male and female nurses. Today, 40 doctors will join and will be transferred to Jaber Hospital and the Trauma Center.
He pointed out the commitment to the time frame for implementing the center, appreciating the role of the central departments in the ministry and the management of Jaber Hospital, the role of Kuwaiti doctors and heads of departments in Jaber Hospital, and the nursing and technical staff, expressing his pride in the existence of a hospital like Jaber Hospital in Kuwait, which is considered an icon in terms of the building and the unique medical equipment it contains.
Minister Al-Awadhi pointed out that the opening of the Al-Adan Hospital buildings is being completed, in addition to other facilities, stressing that the ministry is working within an integrated team and a strategic plan.
He explained that the trauma center has started working and received 5 cases today, noting that the center includes a team working 24 hours a day of specialized national cadres from the reception stage to rehabilitation, as there is an entire floor for patient rehabilitation.
Regarding the existence of centers similar to the center in various regions of the country, he explained that there are such operational units, but this center remains unique.
