The Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, during the 11th Anesthesia Conference, emphasized the significant advancements in the field of anesthesia, particularly in the skills and expertise of doctors in managing complex cases. He noted that as a result of these developments, anesthesia departments are now capable of supporting more intricate and sophisticated surgical procedures than ever before.
Speaking at the opening of the 11th Anesthesia Conference on Saturday, with international participation, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi highlighted that advancements in anesthesia have significantly reduced post-surgical complications. This progress has played a crucial role in enhancing the quality of medical services provided to patients.
Al-Awadhi noted that anesthesia departments have played a vital role in increasing the number of kidney transplants, setting a new record with 149 procedures performed at Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital last year. He also highlighted the expansion of pain treatment clinics, further enhancing patient care.
Anesthesia Specialty Support
Al-Awadhi emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the anesthesia specialty both morally and financially, recognizing its significance as one of Kuwait’s rare medical fields. He highlighted the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training and the launch of an anesthesia technician specialization program aimed at preparing qualified national cadres in scarce medical specialties.
National Cadres
Al-Awadhi stated that this program will lead to the graduation of national cadres who will support the Ministry and enhance the delivery of comprehensive medical services to citizens. He highlighted the implementation of modern work policies through the Ministerial Policies Committee and the Departments Council, aiming to unify work mechanisms and provide advanced medical services. Special attention is being given to cancer patients, with the adoption of innovative techniques such as non-surgical interventions to improve treatment outcomes.
Moreover, Al-Awadhi added that the progress in the field of anesthesia extended beyond medical services to include significant investment in human resources. This was achieved through numerous workshops and strengthened collaboration with international organizations to exchange expertise and promote scientific research. Additionally, the integration of new hospitals into the healthcare system has led to an increase in the number of operating rooms, ultimately reducing patient waiting times and enhancing the overall quality of medical care.
