Gulf Information Undersecretaries convene in Kuwait to prepare for ministerial meeting

Kuwait hosted a preparatory meeting of the Undersecretaries of the Gulf Ministries of Information ahead of the 28th GCC Information Ministers’ Meeting, scheduled for Monday. The meeting was chaired by Kuwait’s Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Nasser Muhaisen, who delivered a keynote address emphasizing the strategic importance of media in the region.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Muhaisen highlighted the Gulf states’ growing recognition of the need to develop the media sector and strengthen its capabilities in light of rapid digital transformation. He underlined the media’s critical role in preserving the region’s social fabric and promoting a unified Gulf identity, reports Al-Rai daily.
Dr. Muhaisen conveyed greetings from the Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, who extended his appreciation for the ongoing efforts to support the unified Gulf media strategy. He praised the meeting as a valuable platform for sharing experiences, shaping collective visions, and launching innovative media initiatives that align with the aspirations of Gulf societies.
“The media today is a cornerstone in shaping public awareness, promoting security and stability, and confronting shared challenges. It plays a crucial role in uniting our efforts and consolidating our regional and international standing,” Dr. Muhaisen stated.
He further stressed the urgency of supporting joint Gulf media projects and harmonizing media discourse on vital issues, especially in the face of rising disinformation. He called for a balanced, professional, and unified Gulf media voice capable of addressing modern challenges with credibility and impact.
Dr. Muhaisen concluded by emphasizing the importance of investing in national media talents, updating media regulations, and integrating advanced technologies to build a resilient and sustainable Gulf media system. He noted that such periodic meetings are essential for enhancing coordination, aligning media strategies, and fulfilling the collective goals of the GCC nations.
