The Gulf Federation for Cancer Control has nominated two Kuwaiti doctors — Dr. Abdulaziz Hamada and Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Jassim — for membership in the Gulf Oncology Society during the federation’s recent meeting.
Dr. Khaled Al-Saleh, Secretary-General of the Federation, stated on Tuesday that the Gulf Oncology Society, which serves as the Federation’s scientific arm, has approved new members from across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The Society’s current membership includes prominent medical professionals from the region — Dr. Maha Al-Sindi (rapporteur) from Bahrain, Dr. Taha Al-Lawati (advisor) from Oman, Dr. Noura Al-Hammadi from Qatar, and Dr. Ahlam Al-Dahl and Dr. Kholoud Al-Wusaiby from Saudi Arabia. It also includes Dr. Aida Al-Awadhi and Dr. Hamid Al-Shamsi from the UAE, and Dr. Ahmed Badib and Dr. Labib Abdullah from Yemen, reports Al-Rai daily.
Dr. Al-Saleh explained that the Gulf Oncology Society is responsible for organizing the Federation’s annual conferences, overseeing collaborative scientific research among Gulf oncologists, and updating cancer treatment protocols across the region.
In addition, the Society manages the Gulf Oncology Journal, an internationally peer-reviewed publication listed in the U.S. National Registry for 15 years. It has become a trusted reference for cancer-related scientific research in the Gulf.
Looking ahead, the Society will take the lead in organizing the scientific program of the upcoming Gulf Oncology Conference in February 2026, hosted by the Kuwait Society for Combating Smoking and Cancer.
Al-Saleh also highlighted the Society’s role in strengthening regional and global cooperation by fostering scientific exchange between the Federation and various cancer research organizations worldwide.
