The General Traffic Department issued 5,969 traffic violations during an intensive nationwide enforcement campaign conducted on Friday and Saturday, as authorities stepped up efforts to improve road safety and curb reckless driving.
According to official statistics, truck drivers accounted for 426 violations, the highest among the recorded offences, followed by 340 radar-detected speeding violations. Authorities also issued 253 citations for illegal parking and traffic obstruction around hospitals, while a separate campaign targeting healthcare facilities resulted in 190 parking-related violations.
The crackdown also recorded 282 violations for using mobile phones while driving, 128 for failing to wear seatbelts, and 113 direct speeding violations.
During the operation, traffic officers arrested 27 individuals wanted on arrest warrants or for residency-related violations. In addition, three motorists were referred to the Traffic Detention Centre for 48-hour precautionary detention after committing serious traffic offences.
Authorities also apprehended two Kuwaiti juveniles for driving without license and referred them to the Juvenile Detention Centre. Furthermore, seven vehicles wanted under judicial seizure orders were confiscated.
The Ministry of Interior said the campaign forms part of its ongoing security and traffic enforcement strategy aimed at enhancing road safety, reducing dangerous driving practices, and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations across the country.
