GTD issues 28,457 citations in seven-day campaign, seizes 20 wanted vehicles, impounds 262

General Traffic Department recorded 28,457 traffic violations and dealt with 1,652 accidents during a seven-day period as authorities continued enforcement operations aimed at improving road safety and protecting motorists. According to traffic statistics covering September 21 to 27, 2026, the security authorities also arrested 48 residency violators and apprehended 43 people against whom arrest warrants had been issued.
The enforcement operations resulted in the seizure of 20 vehicles wanted for judicial confiscation, while 262 vehicles and motorcycles were impounded and transferred to the General Traffic Department’s garage. Authorities also detained 44 people at the traffic detention center during the week.
The traffic teams apprehended 10 people who had been reported absconding, while two juveniles were referred to the Public Prosecution. In addition to enforcement operations, traffic authorities handled 1,426 collision-only accidents and 226 accidents involving collisions and injuries, bringing the total number of accidents dealt with during the week to 1,652.
The department also dealt with 2,846 traffic reports during the same period.
The latest figures reflect the continued field presence of Kuwait’s traffic authorities in monitoring violations, responding to accidents and taking enforcement action against vehicles and individuals wanted by the authorities. The operations are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen traffic discipline, improve road safety and protect road users across Kuwait.
