Govt reviews strategic food reserves, supply chains amid current developments

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry convened a meeting of the Supreme Emergency Committee to assess the current situation and review the latest developments, with discussions focusing on safeguarding strategic reserves and ensuring the continued flow of supply chains across the country.

Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Marwa Al-Jaidan said the Emergency Committee meeting was held this morning under the chairmanship of Minister of Commerce and Industry Osama Boodai, and attended by representatives from 15 government entities and private-sector companies involved in food supply operations and the management of the nation’s strategic reserves, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Jaidan explained that participants reviewed challenges facing food companies in delivering their products, while also examining measures to guarantee the uninterrupted availability and distribution of food supplies to consumers nationwide.

The meeting comes as authorities intensify coordination efforts to maintain market stability and food security amid evolving regional conditions.
