Govt offices to close on January 1 for New Year holiday; resumes Jan 4

The Civil Service Commission announced the work will be suspended in all ministries, government agencies, public bodies, and institutions in observance of the 2026 New Year on Thursday, January 1, 2026, which has been designated an official public holiday and will resume on Sunday, January 4, 2026; Jan 2 and 3 being Friday and Saturday respectively.

The CSC clarified that entities and agencies with a special nature of work will determine their holiday arrangements through their respective authorities, in a manner that ensures continuity of essential services and safeguard the public interest.
