Government studies plan to convert Amghara scrap yard into residential area

The proposal to convert the scrap yard within the South Saad Al-Abdullah City project has gained momentum after resolving the key obstacle of relocating investors to the new Al-Naeem Industrial City.

Government agencies are considering a plan to convert the Amghara scrap yard from an industrial zone into a residential area as part of the South Saad Al-Abdullah Residential City project, a move that would expand the city’s area and population, informed sources revealed to Al Rai newspaper.

The sources said that “the relevant government agencies have once again brought forward the proposal to allocate the Amghara scrap site to the Public Institution for Housing Welfare,” noting that “one of the main reasons for reviving this proposal is that it has become more feasible after resolving the key obstacle—finding an alternative site for investors in the Amghara scrap plots. This was achieved by relocating them to the new Al-Naeem Industrial City.”

The sources added that coordination is underway among the concerned authorities to take the necessary steps to revive the plan to integrate the Amghara scrap site into South Saad Al-Abdullah City. They noted that the proposal will be reviewed from housing, economic, and developmental perspectives.
