Government revokes citizenship of 13 Kuwaitis

The government gazette Kuwait Alyawm has published a supplement, containing the names of 13 individuals whose citizenships have been revoked in accordance with a decision issued by the Supreme Nationality Investigation Committee.
The decision, according to Al-Rai daily, made in accordance with Article 11 of Amiri Decree No. 15 of 1959, which governs the Kuwaiti Nationality Law, outlines that a Kuwaiti citizen loses his/her nationality if he/she voluntarily acquires a foreign nationality.
The law specifies that a Kuwaiti wife does not lose her nationality unless she adopts her husband’s nationality.
Additionally, minor children lose their Kuwaiti nationality if they acquire their father’s new nationality, as per the regulations governing that nationality.
These children have the option to retain Kuwaiti nationality by notifying the Minister of Interior within two years after reaching adulthood.
