Government Performance Agency’s 2023 achievements hailed

The Council of Ministers commended the efforts of the agency's head, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Mishaal, and its leaders for their sincere and diligent work in improving government performance.

  • Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior briefed the Cabinet on Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari’s visit, focusing on boosting security ties, expanding cooperation, and activating security MoUs for mutual stability.

  • The Government Performance Monitoring Agency was assigned to submit a visual presentation to the Council of Ministers every three months, detailing the efforts of government agencies to address the observations contained in the agency’s report.

  • The Council of Ministers approved the minutes of the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality, which includes cases of the loss and withdrawal of Kuwaiti nationality from individuals who obtained it through fraud and forgery.

The Council of Ministers reviewed the Government Performance Follow-up Agency’s annual report for 2023 and commended the efforts of the agency’s head, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Mishaal, and its leaders for their sincere and diligent work in improving government performance. The Council also directed ministries and government agencies to address the observations and implement the recommendations in the report, according to Al Rai newspaper.

This came during the weekly meeting held by the Council of Ministers at Bayan Palace yesterday, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister.

After the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sherida Al-Maousherji stated the following:

Visit of Iraqi Minister of Interior

At the beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior, briefed the Cabinet on the results of the visit by the Minister of Interior of the brotherly Republic of Iraq, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, and his accompanying delegation to Kuwait last Sunday.

During the visit, ways to enhance security relations, expand horizons of cooperation and coordination between the two countries, and activate the provisions contained in the memorandum of understanding and security cooperation between the Kuwaiti and Iraqi sides were discussed, especially in the field of exchanging information and expertise, to achieve security and stability for both countries.

The First Deputy Prime Minister also informed the Cabinet of the content of the meetings held by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah with the Iraqi Minister of Interior.

Enhancing government performance

On the other hand, the Cabinet reviewed the annual report of the Government Performance Follow-up Agency for 2023 and viewed the visual presentation submitted by the Chairman, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Mishaal, along with several agency leaders.

The presentation covered the agency’s work results, the implementation of ministerial decisions, government projects, and public opinion polls conducted to improve service quality. It also addressed the Audit Bureau’s report on the budget for the fiscal year 2022-2023 and included recommendations for ministries and government agencies to enhance performance and address deficiencies.

In this context, the Council of Ministers praised the sincere efforts of the Chairman of the Performance Follow-up Agency and the agency’s leaders for their tireless work in improving the level of government performance.

The Council of Ministers decided:

1. Assigning all ministries and government agencies ‘each in its own capacity’ to address the observations and implement the recommendations contained in the report, and to provide the authority with a periodic report every three months.
2. Assigning the Government Performance Monitoring Agency to submit a visual presentation to the Council of Ministers every three months, detailing the efforts of government agencies to address the observations contained in the agency’s report.

New academic year

On the occasion of the Ministry of Education’s preparations for the new academic year 2024-2025, Dr. Adel Al-Adwani, the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, presented an explanation to the Council of Ministers about the latest work carried out by the ministry to receive the new academic year at various educational levels and in all governorates.

This included the arrangements made by the relevant committees to rehabilitate, maintain, and prepare schools, their facilities, teaching staff, and textbooks.
The Council of Ministers expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation for the Ministry of Education’s efforts to meet all requirements and needs for the new academic year.

Loss and revoked citizenship

On the other hand, the Council of Ministers approved the minutes of the Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality, which includes cases of the loss and withdrawal of Kuwaiti nationality from individuals who obtained it through fraud and forgery, in accordance with the provisions of Decree Law No. 15 of 1959 regarding Kuwaiti nationality and its amendments.
