Government enforces strict measures to uphold law, eliminate violations

After the Al-Mangaf building tragedy and fire, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef led a field campaign with Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, targeting areas like Al-Mangaf, Mahboula, Khaitan, and Al-Jleeb.

  • The ministry initiated a campaign, issuing warnings to buildings in violation, closing several sites, and disconnecting power supply to certain buildings.

  • Rabab Al-Osaimi, the Deputy Director of the Public Authority for Manpower in the Planning and Administrative Development Sector, announced that the files of every company or employer failing to update its data by linking with the Civil Information Authority will be suspended.

With firmness and determination, the government took decisive action to impose compliance, enforce the law, and eliminate all violations, reported Al Rai newspaper.

Following the ‘tragedy’ of the Al-Mangaf building and the subsequent fire, Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and Minister of Defense, spearheaded a field campaign. This initiative involved Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, the Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, and encompassed areas such as Al-Mangaf, Mahboula, Khaitan, and Al-Jleeb.

During this campaign, warnings were issued to buildings in violation of regulations, several sites were closed, and power supply to some buildings was disconnected.

Al-Yousef stressed, “His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has emphasized the importance of law enforcement in the country, ensuring that chaos as previously witnessed will not recur, and any existing violations will be addressed. Every Kuwaiti citizen who values Kuwait must contribute, as no government agency can act alone. We are all Kuwaitis, and we share a common commitment to our country. Those who do not share this commitment will face the consequences.”

He stressed “the importance of working to eliminate violations,” highlighting that “the law is not akin to a constitution or the Qur’an; it can be amended. What we truly need to rectify our violations is a living conscience. All property owners deserve respect, dignity, and appreciation, as they are all Kuwaitis working for Kuwait.”

He announced that “a special number will be allocated to receive reports of any existing violation, just as we allocated a phone number for dual nationals.”

He pointed out, “Within two weeks, the Minister of Municipality promised me that she would present a new draft law to the Council of Ministers to promptly remove violations without prior warning.”

He also mentioned that there will be teams dedicated to immediately addressing violations, expressing gratitude to the numerous real estate owners who proactively contacted him and confirmed their commitment to rectify any existing violations.

For her part, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, the Minister of Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, promised to submit a new draft law to the Council of Ministers, enabling the concerned authorities to remove violations without prior warning.

Al-Mashaan said, “The tour revealed many violations, and Kuwait Municipality will fulfill its responsibilities, ensuring that the law is applied to everyone. Any violation that necessitates immediate removal will be addressed.” She also mentioned, “We have started disconnecting electricity supply to all properties found in serious violation of municipal regulations or decisions by the Ministry of Electricity.”
