Global power giants win Kuwait contracts for high-voltage substation maintenance

Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has awarded a series of major Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contracts for the country’s 132/300/400 kV power substations, reinforcing efforts to ensure the reliability and stability of the national grid.
The contracts were awarded to six leading global and regional power technology firms:
- Siemens Energy
- Al-Ahleia Switchgear Company
- Hitachi Energy
- Toshiba Power Systems
- GRID Solutions SAS
- Mitsubishi Electric Corporation
Under the agreements, the firms will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of key high-voltage substation equipment, along with all associated system, according to Saudi Gulf Projects.
The scope includes conducting preventive maintenance in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications and supplying required spare parts to ensure seamless operation.
The move comes as Kuwait continues upgrading and safeguarding its power infrastructure to meet growing demand and support ongoing development projects across the country.
