GCC looks back on 44-year journey that transformed challenges into regional strength

Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi said the 44th anniversary of the founding of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) represents a precious occasion as “we recall a journey replete with ambitious visions and strategic achievements that have strengthened the Council’s position as a unified regional organization driven by a spirit of integration and built on a legacy of cohesion and cooperation.”
Representing Kuwait’s presidency of the current GCC session, Minister Al-Mutairi delivered a speech during the celebration held at the GCC General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh, describing the anniversary as a significant occasion to reflect on a journey marked by ambitious visions and strategic achievements, reports Al-Rai daily.
These milestones, he said, have elevated the GCC into a unified regional body built on a spirit of integration and a strong legacy of cooperation.
Al-Mutairi conveyed heartfelt congratulations on behalf of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to the leaders and peoples of the Gulf states on this important occasion.
He emphasized that the founding of the GCC was a strategic vision initiated by the leaders of the Gulf countries, reflecting their belief in a shared destiny rooted in common religion, history, and fraternal ties.
The Minister highlighted that the Gulf model has shown how sustained coordination can transform regional challenges into tangible achievements in security, stability, and development.
Al-Mutairi reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to Gulf unity and continued support for joint cooperation, stressing that solidarity remains the foundation of the GCC’s strength. He also called for a renewed focus on human development, especially youth empowerment, through innovative and educational programs that prepare younger generations for leadership roles in their societies.
Concluding his speech, the Minister extended his deepest congratulations to the leaders and peoples of the GCC states, and expressed gratitude to the Secretary-General of the Council, Jassim Al-Budaiwi, and the General Secretariat team for their ongoing efforts to strengthen Gulf unity and cooperation through the successful organization of this event.
