GCC experts call for unified corruption measurement indicators at Kuwait Forum

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Anti-Corruption Experts Committee held its annual meeting on Monday at the Public Authority for Combating Corruption (Nazaha) headquarters, under the theme ‘Mechanisms for Measuring Corruption: International Experiences and National Applications’.

The Participants called for intensifying cooperation amid Gulf and international organizations to standardize measurement indicators of corruption, ensuring reliable tools to assess risks and enhance transparency across the region.

Nazaha Chairman Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim stressed that combating corruption requires “accurate data and reliable indicators,” rather than reliance on impressions or general societal perceptions. He underscored that these tools are essential to guide legislation, policies, and preventive measures, reports Al-Rai daily.

Anwar Al-Qadiri, Director of International Cooperation at Nazaha and Chair of the GCC Anti-Corruption Experts Committee, highlighted Kuwait’s commitment to promoting integrity and strengthening regional cooperation during its presidency of the GCC Ministerial Committee on Combating Corruption. She praised the efforts of GCC states in exchanging best practices and showcasing their achievements at both regional and international levels.

The event featured presentations on corruption measurement methodologies and national experiences from the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and Kuwait, focusing on community awareness, integrity, accountability, and transparency.
