Ambassadors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries accredited to New Delhi held a meeting to explore ways to deepen cooperation between the GCC and India across various sectors.
Kuwait’s Ambassador to India, Mishal Al-Shamali, told KUNA on Saturday that the meeting — chaired by Kuwait in its current capacity as GCC President —focused on enhancing and developing Gulf-India relations at all levels, reports Al-Rai daily.
He noted that participants exchanged views and proposals aimed at advancing joint Gulf efforts, reinforcing the spirit of regional unity and strategic coordination.
This gathering is part of a regular series of consultations among GCC envoys, designed to align diplomatic positions and promote shared interests between the Gulf states and India on a range of issues.
The ambassadors stressed the importance of ongoing dialogue and coordinated efforts to elevate Gulf-India relations to broader and more ambitious horizons.
Discussions also covered recent local, regional, and global developments, with special emphasis on the progress of the free trade agreement negotiations between the GCC and India.
The meeting highlighted the need to bolster economic and trade ties, increase reciprocal investment opportunities, and explore new areas of collaboration — particularly in food security, cybersecurity, energy, culture, and education.
