From old Havana to Caribbean shores: Cuba woos Kuwaiti tourists with culture and charm
The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the State of Kuwait, Eny Pérez Torres, said Cuba is a tourist destination rich in history, culture, and natural beauty, adding that the Kuwaiti visitors can discover fascinating stories in every corner of the country.

The ambassador’s remarks were made on the sidelines of a Cuban tourism conference organized by the Embassy of Cuba in Kuwait. Participating in the conference were a large number of tourism and travel offices in Kuwait, and in the presence of ambassadors from Latin American countries, with the aim of introducing the island’s main tourist attractions and promoting Kuwaiti tourism to Cuba.

Pérez Torres explained that several Cuban cities, such as Old Havana — designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site — as well as Trinidad and Cienfuegos, are distinguished by their well-preserved historic centers, which offer insight into life in old Cuba and reflect the influence of neoclassical and baroque architecture that defines the country’s unique character.

He added that Cuban culture is vibrant and dynamic, the result of a rich fusion of African, Spanish, and Caribbean influences, emphasizing that music and dance represent the soul of the island, with infectious rhythms such as son, rumba, and mambo present in streets, bars, and cafés. Visitors can also enjoy live performances, learn salsa dancing with local instructors, and visit iconic jazz clubs that have hosted legendary musicians.
The ambassador noted that the Cuban people are the country’s greatest treasure, thanks to their warmth and hospitality, which make every visitor feel at home. He also highlighted Cuban cuisine, rich in flavors, the beautiful beaches with crystal-clear waters, and the international fame of Cuban tobacco, which allows tourists to visit tobacco fields and learn firsthand about the entire process of producing the world-renowned Cuban cigars.
Pérez Torres further indicated that Cuba has high-quality hotel infrastructure capable of welcoming Kuwaiti tourists, revealing that around 70 Kuwaiti citizens visited Cuba last year. He expressed his aspiration to increase this number in the coming years by strengthening tourism cooperation and enhancing the promotion of Cuba as a tourist destination in Kuwait.
