From Kuwait to Latin America: ‘A Road Without End’ celebrates poetry, travel and cultural dialogue

Embassy of Peru in Kuwait launches Sheikha Al-Anoud Al-Sabah book as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Peru and Kuwait.

The Embassy of the Republic of Peru in Kuwait held the official launch of Sheikha Dr. Al-Anoud Al-Sabah’s new poetry collection, A Road Without End, on Monday, December 15.

Published in both Arabic and Spanish, the event was part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Peru and Kuwait.

The book launch was attended by a number of Latin American ambassadors, a representative of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as father of Sheikha Al-Anoud, Sheikh Duaij Al-Sabah, and her sister.

Peru’s Ambassador to Kuwait, H.E Carlos Enrique Tomás Jiménez Gil, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the significance of the publication in strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.

The program also featured a panel discussion with Sheikha Al-Anoud and the Peruvian Consul in Kuwait, Pedro Jiménez, during which the content of the book and its central themes were explored.

The collection includes 52 poems written between 2014 and 2025, reflecting a wide range of personal experiences, life moments and literary themes.

Inspired by travel, nature and everyday reflections, the poems are also influenced by Latin American literary traditions. The book is further enriched with illustrations taken from the author’s personal notebooks, adding a complementary visual dimension to the poetic texts.

Sheikha Al-Anoud explained that the idea for the book grew out of her long-standing passion for the Spanish language, which began at the age of 17 and continued through her postgraduate studies in Spanish and Latin American literature at the University of Barcelona, as well as additional academic courses at institutions such as the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

She noted that her travels across Latin America and Spain were a major source of inspiration, during which she regularly recorded her thoughts and impressions in personal journals.

She added that the title was chosen in collaboration with poet Pedro following several shared literary experiences and projects.

The book, she said, represents an important personal and literary milestone, bringing together Spanish-language texts written over many years and reflecting her life journey and the transformations she has experienced over the past decade.
