French President Emmanuel Macron said Saturday that he spoke on the phone with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian. In his social account on X, Macron said, “I urged him to seize the opportunity presented by the discussions launched in Islamabad to pave the way for a lasting de-escalation and a demanding agreement that provides solid security guarantees for the region, with all the countries involved.”
The French leader noted, “I emphasized the need for Iran to restore freedom and security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz as quickly as possible, to which France is ready to contribute.
“I stressed the importance of full respect for the ceasefire, including in Lebanon. “France fully supports the actions of the Lebanese authorities, who are the only legitimate body to exercise state sovereignty and decide Lebanon’s future,” Macron noted. – Kuna
