
Two people have died in France due to heat-related illnesses, according to an official statement released on Wednesday by Agnès Pannier-Runacher, the French Minister for Ecological Transition.
In her remarks, Minister Pannier-Runacher stated, “More than 300 people were taken to emergency care department by firefighters, and sadly, two people died as a result of illnesses linked to the extreme heat.”
The announcement comes amid a severe heatwave sweeping across parts of France, raising concerns about the health and safety of vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions.
The emergency services, in France have been on high alert, responding to a surge in heat-related incidents.
Authorities continue to urge the public to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak temperatures, and check in on neighbors, especially those who are elderly or living alone.
