Former media figure sentenced to prison for insulting H. H. the Amir

The Court of Cassation sentenced the ex-broadcaster to one year and eight months in prison with hard labor.

The Court of Cassation, chaired by Counselor Sultan Bursali, overturned a Court of Appeal ruling that had acquitted a well-known former broadcaster.

The court sentenced him to one year and eight months in prison with hard labor after convicting him of insulting His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and misusing his phone. The defendant, however, denied the charges during questioning, reported Al Rai newspaper.
