Former broadcaster gets two years with hard labor for blasphemy

The Criminal Court, presided over by Counselor Dr. Khaled Al-Omara, has sentenced a well-known former broadcaster to two years in prison with hard labor after finding him guilty of insulting the Divine Being and the Emirate on social media.
The case stemmed from a tweet the accused allegedly posted on his personal account on X platform. After his arrest by the State Security Service the Public Prosecution charged him with blasphemy and undermining the Emirate, in addition to misusing telecommunications services.
During interrogation, the accused denied all charges. Despite his denial, the court found him guilty based on the content of the tweet and the evidence presented by the prosecution.
