Foreign Ministry study considers downsizing, relocating embassies
Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya said the system for automating institutional financial resources will be piloted in three offices—military, health, and cultural—in preparation for its full implementation across all foreign offices.

• The Council of Ministers has reviewed a presentation by Abdullah Al-Yahya and Foreign Affairs officials on digitizing diplomatic mission accounts to address regulatory concerns and streamline financial transactions for military, cultural, and health offices through Kuwaiti embassies abroad while safeguarding public funds.
Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya told Al-Rai newspaper that a study is being prepared on foreign offices of government agencies worldwide, which includes plans to reduce staff, close, or relocate embassies.
He stated that the system for automating institutional financial resources will be piloted in three offices—military, health, and cultural—in preparation for its full implementation across all foreign offices. He noted that the ministry has conducted a comprehensive and integrated study on this matter based on a government directive.
Last week, the Council of Ministers was briefed on a visual presentation by Al-Yahya and Foreign Affairs officials regarding the automation of institutional resources (digitization of diplomatic mission accounts).
The initiative aims to develop a strategy to address regulatory concerns and enable the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to efficiently process financial transactions for military, cultural, and health offices through Kuwaiti embassies abroad, ensuring the safeguarding of public funds.
