Five Iranians get death for smuggling 175 kilograms of narcotics by sea

The Criminal Court, presided over by Counselor Faisal Al-Hassan, issued a verdict sentencing five Iranian nationals to death for smuggling a large quantity of drugs — 175 kilograms of hashish and psychotropic substances — from Iran to Kuwait by sea.
According to case details, the defendants used a 26-foot-long cruiser owned by the first accused to transport the narcotics. The vessel was intercepted and the suspects apprehended by Kuwait’s Coast Guard after entering the country’s territorial waters, reports Al-Rai daily.
During court proceedings, the accused confessed to the charges, admitting that they were drug addicts and had consumed narcotics prior to departure to suppress fear and maintain resolve in carrying out the smuggling operation.
They confirmed that the drugs were loaded onto the cruiser in Iran, and they set off based on a prearranged map location, where they believed they would deliver the shipment to a Kuwaiti citizen.
Their plan, however, was foiled when a Coast Guard patrol approached them at sea and ordered them to stop. The patrol conducted a search, seized the narcotics, and arrested all five individuals on board.
The ruling reflects the Kuwaiti judiciary’s strict stance against drug trafficking and its commitment to protecting society from the threats posed by illegal narcotics.
