- Vital moment for bilateral economic cooperation
- Council will develop a strategic action plan in coordination with relevant government agencies
- Will focus on priority sectors aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and Kuwait’s Vision 2035
The Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce has announced the formation of the first Saudi-Kuwaiti Business Council, marking a significant step in strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
Salman Al-Aqeel was elected as Chairman of the council, with Tariq Al-Othman and Tariq Al-Qahtani appointed as his deputies.
In a statement, Al-Aqeel described the council’s establishment as a vital moment for bilateral economic cooperation. He emphasized that the council provides a practical platform for business sectors in both Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to take advantage of promising investment opportunities, while boosting trade and investment partnerships.
The council will develop a strategic action plan in coordination with relevant government agencies, aiming to create a more attractive investment environment, enhance the level of bilateral trade, and support joint economic initiatives, reports Al-Jarida daily.
Al-Aqeel noted that the plan will focus on priority sectors aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and Kuwait’s Vision 2035, as well as promoting investment opportunities, leveraging comparative advantages, and facilitating market access for companies from both countries.
Trade between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait reached approximately 9.5 billion riyals ($2.53 billion) by the end of November 2025, with Saudi exports totaling 8 billion riyals ($2.13 billion) and Kuwaiti imports at 1.5 billion riyals ($400 million).
The council’s formation follows preparatory discussions announced last December during a meeting between the Federation and the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the Kingdom, Sheikh Sabah Al-Nasser.
The council officially began its work yesterday, providing a strategic platform to support business owners and strengthen economic ties between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
