School corridors and classrooms were decorated with colorful, welcoming drawings prepared by educational staff, while excitement and curiosity shone on first-graders’ faces as they began their very first school experience.

• Classes for elementary, middle, and high school grades began today, with kindergartens opening tomorrow, as the Ministry of Education distributed 4.115 million textbooks, also accessible through its online library and students’ Teams accounts.
First-grade students across all educational districts began classes on Monday, marking the start of the 2025–2026 academic year. Classes for the remaining elementary, middle, and high school grades also commenced today, while kindergartens are scheduled to open tomorrow. The Ministry of Education said it has made extensive preparations to ensure a smooth start to the school year, reported Al Jarida newspaper.
School corridors and classrooms were decorated with colors and welcoming drawings prepared by educational staff to greet the young learners. Excitement and curiosity were visible on the faces of the first-graders as they embarked on their initial school experience.
The Ministry of Education announced that the number of students enrolled in public and private schools at all educational levels has reached about 520,000, distributed across public institutions and private Arab schools.
The ministry emphasized that it has worked to ensure a stable and effective start to the academic year from the first day, providing a welcoming atmosphere prepared by educational and administrative staff to receive students in a way that strengthens their confidence and prepares them psychologically for a positive and encouraging beginning.
On the subject of textbooks, the ministry explained that more than 4.1 million books have already been distributed across different regions and educational stages, while the printing and delivery of the remaining quantities are being completed daily to guarantee their full availability.
The ministry added that the distribution follows a first-come, first-served system, with science and mathematics books for middle school students scheduled to be available next week.
e-books
As part of its digital transformation efforts and commitment to continuity in the learning process, the ministry has also provided full electronic versions of all textbooks. These are available through the ministry’s official website and electronic library, as well as on students’ Microsoft Teams accounts. This initiative allows students, parents, and teachers to access and download educational content anytime, forming part of a temporary plan until the full arrival of printed copies.
The ministry confirmed that specialized administrative staff continue to monitor the distribution process on a daily basis, ensuring books are delivered to schools in all educational districts. It noted that the remaining textbooks are in their final printing stages, with batches dispatched directly to the ministry’s warehouses for immediate distribution.
Reiterating its message, the ministry stressed that students’ return to classrooms marks a new chapter in academic achievement, the strengthening of national values, and the shared responsibility of building a future worthy of Kuwait and its people. The first school day, it added, reflected camaraderie between teachers and students and renewed the partnership with parents in supporting children’s education.
Traffic procedures and awareness campaign
Security agencies have stepped up field efforts to ensure smooth traffic flow across key areas, especially near schools. From early morning, personnel were deployed at main roads and intersections to regulate traffic and secure safe student access.
At the same time, the national awareness campaign “Our Students Are a Nation’s Treasure” continued in cooperation with several government agencies. First Lieutenant Hamad Al-Daihani from the Ministry of Interior’s Public Relations and Security Media Department said the campaign aims to raise awareness among students, parents, and teachers.
The initiative highlights safe behavior in and around schools, prevention of violence and bullying, and the risks of drugs and cybercrime. It also focuses on developing safety skills such as fire prevention and the proper use of electrical appliances, while promoting citizenship, respect for laws, and preservation of public property.
