Fire department urges elevator installation only through accredited companies

Brigadier-General Al-Gharib calls on owners to ensure elevator safety and regular inspections

The Kuwait Fire Force has emphasized the critical importance of following safety and security standards when installing elevators in residential, commercial, and investment buildings, underscoring that all installation work must be carried out exclusively by accredited companies.

Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, Director of Public Relations at the KFF, told Al-Rai that the department is keen to raise public awareness about elevator safety.

He stressed that compliance with accreditation ensures elevators meet approved technical specifications, reduces risks from faulty installations, and guarantees proper periodic maintenance.

“Elevators are essential facilities in multi-story buildings,” Al-Gharib said, adding that periodic inspections must be conducted, and elevators should not be operated until they complete accreditation and technical audits.

He urged building owners to meet all safety requirements before putting elevators into operation to protect lives and safeguard property, noting that specialized firefighting teams are actively monitoring compliance.

“Safety is a shared responsibility,” he added, calling on everyone to adhere to the approved regulations to prevent accidents and promote secure environments in buildings.
