Finance Ministry implements green plan to promote efficient, eco-friendly workspaces

To foster more efficient and sustainable work environment, the Ministry of Finance has unveiled a comprehensive plan to rationalize electricity and water consumption across its facilities.
The initiative aligns with broader government directives to improve energy efficiency, reduce public expenditure, and promote environmental responsibility, according to Al-Rai daily.
Announced on the Ministry’s Twitter account, the new measures reflect a commitment to national and societal duty.
The statement emphasized the importance of collective effort, urging ministry employees to actively participate in energy conservation efforts, as “everyone’s cooperation and commitment make a real difference.”
Key steps in the plan include the daily shutdown of central air conditioning units in all ministry buildings from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. in addition, cooling stations and their auxiliary systems will be turned off from 6:00 pm to 3:00 am, contributing to significant reductions in electricity usage during non-peak hours.
The Ministry is also reducing the operational hours of ventilation fans, discontinuing the use of all central heaters, and equipping restrooms with motion sensors to optimize water usage.
These measures are designed not only to conserve resources but also to lower operational costs and minimize environmental impact.
Lighting has also come under focus in the ministry’s sustainability strategy. Solar-powered lighting systems will remain active on internal roads within the Ministries Complex, as well as in the eastern and southern parking buildings. The use of lighting sensors will be maintained to ensure efficient energy usage.
Meanwhile, internal and external lighting will be minimized, with only emergency lighting remaining active. All decorative lighting, including for landscaped areas and agricultural basins, will be turned off entirely.
