Final phase of ‘Knowledge Journey in Kuwait’ instills leadership qualities in young people
Supports global efforts to build knowledge-based societies, in alignment with Kuwait’s Third National Development Plan and Vision 2035, reaffirming the country’s commitment to innovation, youth empowerment, and sustainable growth

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), in partnership with Kuwait’s General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCPD), completed the third and final phase of the “Knowledge Journey in Kuwait.”
This strategic initiative aims to empower Kuwaiti youth and women by equipping them with leadership, innovation, and future-readiness skills that support sustainable development across both the public and private sectors.
This concluding phase of the journey officially began with two virtual sessions on June 23 and 25, and continued with three in-person sessions that happened in Kuwait on June 30, July 1, and July 2.
A total of 60 young participants were engaged in this phase, which featured interactive learning experiences, dynamic discussions, and hands-on workshops designed to promote collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
The program also included keynote speeches by leading experts from various fields and the development of actionable roadmaps and policy recommendations that support the sustainability and application of knowledge.
These outputs were presented to decision-makers, further emphasizing the initiative’s role as a strategic platform for influencing Kuwait’s knowledge economy and development agenda.
Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, stated, “Investing in human capital, especially youth, is central to our mission. Through innovative initiatives like the ‘Knowledge Journey,’ we aim to extend the reach of our efforts globally and regionally, contributing to the creation of a sustainable knowledge economy founded on creativity and innovation.”
UNDP Resident Representative in Kuwait, Ms. Emma Morley, highlighted the organization’s commitment to youth empowerment in the Arab region.
She said, “This initiative reflects our support for Kuwait’s Vision 2035 by placing youth at the center of an inclusive and knowledge-driven economy. Countries that thrive in today’s world are those that prioritize innovation and invest in their people. Through this collaboration, we are equipping young people and women with the tools to contribute meaningfully to Kuwait’s future.”
Ms. Eman Al-Sharrah from the GSSCPD emphasized the national significance of the initiative, adding, “Aligned with the National Development Plan and Kuwait Vision 2035, this program enhances the capabilities of Kuwaiti youth and supports their leadership potential in the context of digital and knowledge transformation. It’s a key step in preparing a generation of future-ready leaders.”
This final phase built on the achievements of the previous two stages of the Knowledge Journey. The first phase, held in October 2024, introduced the Global Knowledge Index and highlighted how knowledge can drive development.
The second phase, held in February 2025, focused on technology, research and development, digital literacy, and lifelong learning, especially in the context of vocational training and education system development.
The “Knowledge Journey in Kuwait” followed in the footsteps of the earlier “Knowledge Week” initiatives held in Jordan (2019) and Egypt (2020).
It also supports global efforts to build knowledge-based societies, in alignment with Kuwait’s Third National Development Plan and Vision 2035, reaffirming the country’s commitment to innovation, youth empowerment, and sustainable growth.
