International authorities and cybersecurity agencies have issued strong warnings to football fans ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as scam operations targeting ticket buyers and merchandise customers continue to increase globally.
According to alerts published by law enforcement and cybersecurity organizations, including the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center, fraudsters are creating fake websites, counterfeit ticket portals, and spoofed FIFA platforms designed to deceive fans into sharing personal and financial information.
The fake sites closely mimic official FIFA branding and often advertise discounted tickets, hospitality packages, and exclusive early access deals, luring fans into making payments for tickets that do not exist.
Cybersecurity experts say more than dozens of fraudulent domains have already been identified, with scammers increasingly using social media advertising and search engine manipulation to reach victims.
Authorities warn that once victims enter payment details, scammers either steal funds directly or harvest sensitive personal data for identity fraud.
Officials strongly advise fans to only purchase tickets through official FIFA channels, manually type website addresses instead of clicking ads, and avoid deals that appear significantly below market value.
