FID Kuwait releases 21st Health Guide, celebrates unity at Docfest 2026

  • The evening stood as a tribute to the vital contributions of Indian healthcare professionals in Kuwait and a celebration of health, harmony and cross-cultural solidarity.

The Forum of Indian Doctors Kuwait (FID), the premier sociocultural association of Indian doctors in Kuwait, celebrated the release of the 21st edition of its annual health guide titled Health and Wellness and hosted DOCFEST 2026, a vibrant cultural variety show, at Hotel Regency on 6 February 2026.

The event was graced by Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Ahmad Abdulwahab Al Awadhi, as Chief Guest. Guests of Honour included Ambassador of India to Kuwait H.E. Paramita Tripathi,; Sheikha Shaikha Ali Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; and Dr. Ibrahim Al Tawalah, President of the Kuwait Medical Association.

The celebration was attended by a distinguished gathering of diplomats, senior doctors, business leaders and heads of community associations. Among them were H.E.Ambassador Troy Torrington of Guyana, Dr. Khaled AlKhaledi, Director of Kuwait Cancer Control Center, Dr. Amal Ayed Abdullah of Farwaniya Hospital, and Dr. Marium A. Khudr of the Maternity Hospital.

The evening commenced with the national anthems of Kuwait and India, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran. FID Vice President Dr. Susovana Sujit Nair served as master of ceremonies, guiding the formal proceedings.

In his welcome address, FID General Secretary Dr. Philipose George greeted the dignitaries, members and families. FID President Dr. Sameer Humad highlighted the association’s year-round community health initiatives aimed at raising awareness about various medical conditions and preventive care.

Minister Al Awadhi congratulated FID and the Indian community, emphasizing the strong Kuwait-India ties and praising Indian doctors for their dedication and contributions to enhancing healthcare services in Kuwait. He also acknowledged the vital support provided by their families.

Ambassador Tripathi commended Indian doctors for their professionalism and work ethic and lauded FID for publishing a practical and accessible health guide. Sheikha Shaikha Ali Al-Jaber Al-Sabah stressed the importance of yoga and meditation for holistic wellbeing, appreciating the guide’s emphasis on healthy living. Dr. Ibrahim Al Tawalah underscored the significant role Indian doctors play in Kuwait’s healthcare sector.

The 21st edition of Health and Wellness was introduced by Chief Editor Dr. Arijit Chattopadhyay along with an editorial team comprising Dr. Philipose George, Dr. Rajendra C. Mishra, Dr. Jibin John Thomas, Dr. Rajesh Vasudeva, Dr. Yousuf Dar, Dr. Mohamad Quadri and Dr. Soumya R. Shetty. The publication focuses on lifestyle improvement and the importance of “SHIELD” principles for achieving a healthy and balanced life.

Featuring expert-authored articles written in simple, non-technical language, the guide provides valuable insights into disease management and recent medical advances. The official release was performed by the Minister of Health, with the first copies presented to the distinguished guests.

The formal segment concluded with felicitation of dignitaries and a vote of thanks delivered by Vice President Dr. Mohan Ram, who expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Health, the Indian Embassy, Kuwait Medical Association, sponsors and supporters.
The second half of the evening featured DOCFEST 2026 themed “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – The World is One Family.”

Introduced by Cultural Secretary Dr. Anila Albert, the program began with a ceremonial lamp lighting. Through music, dance and a creative narrative set during the Covid-19 pandemic, FID members and their families delivered a powerful message of unity beyond barriers of nationality, race or gender. The grand finale, raffle draws and a gala dinner brought the memorable evening to a successful close.
