The Federation of Nepalese Journalists Foreign Branch in Kuwait celebrated its 15th foundation day on Monday at Hotel Rajdhani in Khaitan.

Since its establishment in 2011, the federation marked this milestone with a lively program showcasing its accomplishments and honoring contributions to journalism.

The highlight of the celebration was the presentation of the Madhavshahi Memorial Journalism Award 2024. Created in memory of the late Madhav Shahi, a former member of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists in Kuwait, the award was conferred upon journalist Anand Acharya.

Known for his long-standing dedication to journalism and his role as the managing director of Titopati Dotcom, Acharya received a cash prize of KD 75, a certificate, and a dosalla (traditional Nepali shawl) from the chief guest, H. E. Ghana Shyam Lamsal, the Nepal Ambassador to Kuwait.

In addition to the awards ceremony, the foundation day featured an interactive program titled ‘Bidesh Dimarsha.’ This session, which comprised five distinct segments, included discussions with representatives from various sectors, including business, politics, women’s rights, and the Nepali Embassy.

The program aimed to foster dialogue on pressing issues affecting the Nepali community and to facilitate a better understanding of the roles different sectors play in the diaspora.

The event underscored the federation’s ongoing commitment to promoting journalism and fostering community engagement, reflecting its growth and influence over the past 15 years.

The celebrations were well-attended by members of the journalism community, diplomats, and guests from various fields, marking a successful commemoration of a significant milestone in the federation’s history.
