“Expo 965” launches with 750 craftsmen showcasing heritage and crafts

The “Expo 965” exhibition commenced today, Tuesday, with the participation of 750 skilled craftsmen, attended by Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Minister of Education Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, and Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah.
At the inauguration of the exhibition this morning, held in conjunction with Kuwait being named the Arab Capital of Culture 2025, Dr. Ghanem Al-Sulaimani, Director of the Educational Technology Department and representative of the event’s sponsor, Minister of Education Eng. Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, emphasized the significance of such exhibitions. He highlighted their role in bridging the heritage of ancestors with a new generation of students and teachers by showcasing and preserving Kuwait’s traditional crafts.
Al-Sulaimani emphasized that the significant and enthusiastic turnout of visitors on the first day of the exhibition, held at Palestine School in the Rumaithiya area, reflects the deep interest of Kuwaiti society in its national heritage. He noted that the exhibition has successfully showcased a diverse range of handicrafts, serving as a gateway for exploring and preserving the rich traditions of these heritage fields.
The founder and general coordinator of the “Expo 965” team for heritage exhibitions, crafts, and Kuwaiti creators, researcher Mohammed Kamal, highlighted that the exhibition, now in its sixth edition, will feature 300 specialists, team members, and participants from Gulf Cooperation Council countries, each contributing in their respective fields. He noted that the event will include three dedicated forums: the first focusing on Kuwait’s designation as the Arab Capital of Culture and Media, the second addressing the fourth forum for people with special needs, disabilities, and orphans, and the final day featuring the fifth Gulf forum for heritage and handicrafts.
