Expatriates deported on false charges after corrupt officer sold justice for 500 dinars

Kuwaiti authorities have uncovered a serious case of abuse of power after arresting a police officer accused of fabricating charges to illegally deport expatriates in exchange for bribes.

In a major security operation underscoring the vigilance and determination of law enforcement agencies, the Abu Futaira Criminal Investigation Department has arrested a military officer serving at a police station in the Capital Governorate on charges of abusing his position for personal gain.

According to initial investigations, the officer was involved in fabricating false accusations against expatriates and preparing fraudulent reports that led to their deportation, in return for financial payments.

The officer reportedly received KD 500 for each case, paid in advance by individuals seeking to deport expatriates out of personal grudges or motives of revenge. He would then file fictitious violations against the victims to facilitate their removal from the country.

A security source told Al-Anba that, acting on credible information, authorities carried out a sting operation in which an expatriate posed as someone wishing to have another individual deported. Upon receiving the marked sum of KD 500, the officer was caught red-handed and immediately arrested.

The source added that the accused later confessed in full before the Public Prosecution, admitting to accepting money in exchange for orchestrating the deportation of expatriates through fabricated reports and false charges.

Following his arrest, the officer was referred to the Public Prosecution, while the competent authorities began compiling a comprehensive list of all cases in which he was involved during the previous period.

These cases will be reviewed to determine whether injustice or manipulation occurred, and appropriate legal measures will be taken accordingly.

The source stressed that the Ministry will show zero tolerance toward such violations, affirming that “the rule of law is above all,” and that any exploitation of authority for personal benefit will be met with firm action and severe penalties.
