A Misdemeanor Court has sentenced an expatriate gynecologist working at a private hospital to six months in prison and ordered her to pay 100,000 dinars in compensation to the plaintiff after finding her guilty of medical negligence and wrong diagnosis.
According to case details, the doctor was convicted of negligence in treating a patient, providing an incorrect diagnosis, failing to consult a surgeon, and not exercising the due care required in medical practice. Her dereliction of duty reportedly caused the patient serious health complications, reports Al-Rai daily.
The court’s ruling underscores the judiciary’s firm stance in upholding rights of patients and holding medical professionals accountable for any negligence that jeopardizes public health and safety.
