Expat arrested for defrauding Kuwaiti of 12,000 dinars in fake contracting scheme

An unidentified expatriate has been detained after a Kuwaiti citizen filed a report at the Maidan Hawalli Police Station saying he was defrauded by an expatriate who falsely claimed to be a partner in a general trading and contracting company.

The suspect allegedly signed fake contracts and received KD 12,000, which he later admitted to spending, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to a security source, when the Hawalli Investigations Department summoned the suspect, he confessed to committing fraud and deception, admitting that he had drawn up a false contract with the complainant to carry out decor, aluminum, and door installations at the complainant’s house in Al-Shaab.

He acknowledged receiving the KD 12,000 payment, completing part of the work, and abandoning the rest, citing a dispute after the complainant allegedly assaulted him for the delay.

Investigations revealed that the expatriate falsely presented himself as a company partner, used fabricated company papers, and stamped the contract with his name to gain the complainant’s trust. He then misappropriated the remaining funds for personal use.

Authorities confirmed that the accused has a criminal history of fraud and deception, with multiple similar cases filed against him.
