Executive contract for Mubarak Port to be signed next week

The signing is expected to mark a significant milestone in Kuwait’s infrastructure development agenda and strengthen strategic cooperation with international partners.

Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan announced that the executive contract to complete the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project will be signed next week under the patronage and in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah.

The announcement was made during a meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Monitoring Major Development Projects, chaired by Dr. Al-Mashaan, reports Al-Rai daily.

The signing ceremony will be attended by senior officials from the Chinese state-owned company affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Transport.

She highlighted the national achievements being realized as part of Kuwait’s comprehensive development drive, noting that the country is moving forward at an accelerated and steady pace toward a promising future under the wise guidance of the political leadership.

Dr. Al-Mashaan stressed that the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project represents one of the country’s strategic development pillars, reflecting Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening its infrastructure, enhancing its logistical capabilities and supporting long-term economic diversification.

For his part, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs and member and rapporteur of the Ministerial Committee, Ambassador Sameeh Jawhar Hayat, said the meeting reviewed progress reports and updates from relevant government agencies on several major development initiatives.

These include the implementation stages of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port project, cooperation in the electrical power system and renewable energy development, as well as joint efforts to establish low-carbon green systems for waste recycling.

The discussions also covered cooperation in housing development, environmental infrastructure projects for sewage treatment plants, and broader collaboration in environmental protection and combating desertification, reflecting an integrated approach to sustainable development.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Abdul Latif Al-Mashari, Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy and Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Head of the Fatwa and Legislation Department Counselor Salah Ateeq Al-Majed, in addition to Ambassador Sameeh Jawhar Hayat.
