Europe deploys forces as Iran war expands beyond Middle East

Evacuations begin across region; oil prices surge

The conflict involving Iran is widening as several European nations move to strengthen their military presence in the region while maintaining what officials describe as a defensive posture. The developments signal growing international concern that the war could spread beyond the Middle East.

According to CNN World the United Kingdom has announced plans to deploy additional fighter jets to Qatar, while Greece and Italy are reinforcing defensive measures in Cyprus amid fears of further escalation.

Meanwhile, evacuation efforts for foreign nationals are intensifying, with governments arranging charter flights and special transport services to help citizens leave the region. Despite these efforts, thousands of travelers remain stranded as airlines gradually resume limited operations.

On the political front, U.S. President Donald Trump said he expects to play a role in determining Iran’s next supreme leader following the death of Ali Khamenei. Speaking to Axios, Trump indicated that the possible appointment of Khamenei’s son would be “unacceptable.”

The conflict has also begun to affect global markets. U.S. stocks extended losses amid mounting fears about the economic consequences of the war, while oil prices surged to their highest level since the end of the Joe Biden administration.

On the ground, Iranian and Israeli forces continued exchanging strikes for the sixth consecutive day, with fresh attacks reported in Iran and Lebanon.

A CNN reporting team has entered Iran, becoming the first U.S. television network to gain access to the country since the conflict began.

As tensions escalate, international leaders continue to monitor the situation closely amid growing concerns that the war could draw in more countries and further disrupt global stability.
