The European Union has agreed on a new round of sanctions against Russia in response to its ongoing war in Ukraine, further tightening economic pressure on Moscow.
The measures include a reduction in the price cap for Russian oil exports, with the aim of restricting the Kremlin’s ability to finance its military operations.
“We have reached an agreement on an 18th package of strong and effective sanctions against Russia,” a diplomat in Brussels confirmed after EU ambassadors concluded a meeting on Friday morning, according to news reports.
These latest sanctions package reflect the EU’s continued commitment to supporting Ukraine and curbing Russia’s access to revenue streams that could prolong the conflict.
